Vor dem Hintergrund der COVID-19-Pandemie liefert das Kompetenzzentrum "Forschungsschwerpunkt Internationale Wirtschaft" (FIW)
mit dem Update zum FIW-Jahresgutachten 2021 eine Aktualisierung der globalen sowie österreichischen Wirtschafts- und Handelsentwicklung
und gibt einen kurz- und mittelfristigen Ausblick. Für die österreichischen Gesamtexporte von Waren und Dienstleistungen geht
das FIW auf Basis der Prognose des Jahresergebnisses für 2021 von einem Wachstum von 8,6% (preisbereinigt) aus. Im Jahr 2022
rechnet das vorliegende Update mit einem Exportwachstum von 8,9%. Die hohe Exportdynamik im Jahr 2021 ist auf den Warenhandel
zurückzuführen, der mit rund 10,6% wachsen dürfte. Der Dienstleistungsexport dürfte nach 2020 auch 2021 einen Rückgang um
1,3% in Kauf nehmen müssen. Dies ist vor allem auf die schwache Wintersaison im Reiseverkehr zurückzuführen.

FIW Annual Report. Foreign Trade – Update 2021
Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Research Centre International Economics (FIW) provides an update of its
annual report on the global and Austrian international trade developments including a short- and medium-term outlook. For
Austria's total exports of goods and services, FIW assumes growth of 8.6 percent (price-adjusted) based on the forecast of
the annual result for 2021. In 2022, this update expects export growth of 8.9 percent. The high export momentum in 2021 is
due to trade in goods, which is expected to grow by around 10.6 percent. After 2020, services exports will probably have to
accept a decline of 1.3 percent in 2021. This is mainly due to the weak winter season in travel.
