The WIFO-Monatsberichte (monthly reports) contain research results and publications by WIFO staff on national and international economic developments based on sound economic analyses. Additionally, important key figures on the international and Austrian economic situation are published in the WIFO-Monatsberichte.

Österreich hat die monetären Ressourcen für die Wissensproduktion und -verwertung in den letzten Jahrzehnten auf ein Niveau über jenem der führenden Innovationsländer der EU gesteigert. Leistungsindikatoren etwa für Publikationen, Patente und innovationsintensive Start-ups, zeigen aber noch deutliche Aufholpotentiale, insbesondere im Vergleich mit weltweit führenden Ländern. Bestehenden exzellenten Forschungseinrichtungen oder innovationsintensiven Unternehmen fehlt es derzeit (noch) an Größe, um in der Gesamtleistung Österreichs sichtbar zu sein.

Knowledge Production and Utilisation in Austria in an International Comparison
In recent decades, Austria has increased its monetary resources for knowledge production and utilisation to a level above the leading innovation countries of the EU. However, performance indicators for publications, patents and innovation-intensive start-ups, for example, still point to significant catch-up potential, particularly in comparison with leading global countries. Existing excellent research institutions or innovation-intensive companies (still) lack the size to be visible in Austria's overall performance.
