Der vorliegende Policy Brief gibt einen Überblick über die bestehenden rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen für den Elektrizitätssektor auf EU-Ebene. Mit Fokus auf Elektrizität wird diskutiert, inwieweit die aktuelle Rechtslage bereits für einen Ausbau erneuerbarer Energien im Einklang mit den bestehenden Klimazielen der EU geeignet ist. Schließlich werden Optionen für eine Anpassung des energiepolitischen Rahmens der EU im Kontext rezenter Entwicklungen, insbesondere dem Krieg in der Ukraine, erörtert.

This Policy Brief provides an overview of the legal framework for the electricity sector at EU level. With a focus on electricity, it discusses to what extent the existing legal framework is suitable for an expansion of renewable energies in line with the climate targets of the EU. Finally, options for adapting the EU's energy policy framework in the context of recent developments, in particular the war in Ukraine, are discussed.
